Breathable and transparent, the specially engineered wave pattern is scaled to provide appropriate support for each part of your spine. It flexes in two dimensions as you move to create responsive, personalized comfort and fit.
4D armrests adjust in four dimensions – height, width, depth and pivot – to support neck and shoulders in postures right for work, even as you change tasks, move and collaborate.
The weight-activated back tension mechanism responds automatically as you sit to create appropriate ergonomic support – with three settings you can adjust for further comfort. The manually adjustable mechanism features 14 settings to provide the ultimate in personalized back tension.

Air LiveBack® technology

Steelcase Series 2 features the signature Steelcase Air LiveBack® technology, that works through an innovative geometric design - a specifically engineered wave pattern - that provides appropriate support for each part of your spine. It flexes in two dimensions as you move to create responsive, personalized comfort and fit. The height-adjustable lumbar provides additional back support, fitting comfortably in the curve of your back.

Weight-activated mechanism

The weight-activated tile mechanism allows for automatic and intuitive adjustments. The seat and back work in harmony with each other – responding automatically as you sit and move. An additional “boost” tension setting increases the resistance you feel as you recline, and an upright backstop locks you in an upright position.

4D adjustable arms

The enhanced 4D adjustable arms adjust in four dimensions (height, width, depth and pivot) and support neck and shoulders in postures right for work as you change tasks and move. Attached to the seat mechanism, the armrests remain parallel to the worksurface at every angle of recline so you can stay on task.
